A Garden City teenager who had been missing since May 2025 was found safe in Oregon on Sunday, Nov. 1. Bear Lake has been hoping for this news for a long time.

The FBI Salt Lake City Field Office says Oregon law enforcement found the 17-year-old Sunday afternoon. They were working directly with FBI Salt Lake City and the Rich County Sheriff's Office. A 39-year-old man was taken into custody without incident. Officials haven't released his name or any charges.

"We are grateful she can return home, and we will continue working with our partners to hold those responsible accountable," FBI Director Kash Patel said.

The FBI and the Sheriff's Office worked the case for more than a year, following leads from across the U.S. and other countries. Fox News reported that the Oregon State Police, the FBI Portland office and the Utah Department of Public Safety also helped. The case is still open, and officials say they won't release more information for now. Bear Lake TV will pass along official updates as they come.
